HIST, UNOSAT Forge Partnership for World Heritage Conservation
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on September 6, 2024, between the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) and the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT). The agreement was formalized during the Fourth Space Observation Forum for Sustainable Development organized by the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS), signaling an advancement in the use of space technology for the protection of World Heritage sites.

Workshop in Beijing Empowers Small Island Developing States with Big Earth Data for Sustainable Development
On September 2, 2024, a workshop themed "Capacity Building on Utilizing Big Earth Data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)" opened in Beijing. The 8-day event aims to enhance the SIDS’ability to monitor and assess SDG progress using Big Earth Data, thereby strengthening informed decision-making.

Big Data's Role in Heritage Preservation Highlighted at 46th UNESCO World Heritage Committee Session
A side event titled "Big Data for Sustainable Development of World Heritage Sites" was held on July 26 during the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in New Delhi, India. The event was co-hosted by the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau.

Sino-Argentine Workshop Held in Beijing to Discuss Antarctic Climate Change and its Sustainable Development

UN Security Council Affairs Workshop Delegation Visits CBAS
On July 9, 2024, representatives from the Workshop on UN Security Council Affairs visited the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS). The delegation experienced a live demonstration of the SDG Big Data Platform and the operation of SDGSAT-1 Satellite, engaging in discussions with researchers about utilizing Big Earth Data to develop sustainable development solutions at country and regional levels.

Regional Collaboration Project on Crop Biodiversity Launched in Malaysia
The "Promoting Crop Biodiversity through Innovative Space Applications (CropBio)" project was officially launched in Bintulu, Malaysia on June 5-6, 2024. This project was initiated by the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
