Researchers Host Special Session at the Conference of Remote Sensing for the Environment in Africa

DBAR Opens Center of Excellence in the US

The International Center of Excellence of the Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR) at Columbia (ICoE-Columbia), South Carolina, the US inaugurated on the 14th of November 2018. This is DBAR’s first such center in North America and the sixth one across the world including centers in Bangkok, El Jadida, Lusaka, Moscow and Helsinki.

NAS President Visits AIR

A delegation led by President of the US National Academy of Sciences Marcia McNutt visited AIRCAS on the morning of Nov 2, 2018.They were greeted by Prof. GUO Huadong, Big Earth Data Science Engineering Project (CASEarth) and presented the program’s contribution to ensure the actual use of Big Earth Data in support of the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as articulated in the 2030 Agenda document.

Cooperation Agreement on Second-term Operation of HIST Inked in Beijing

On behalf of the Chinese Government and the United Nation’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) respectively, CAS President BAI Chunli and Dr. Flavia Schlegel, Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences of UNESCO, signed the second-term (2018-2023) cooperation agreement on the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) in Beijing on Nov 4. 2018.

AIR Hosts an International Workshop for Capacity Building of Disaster Alleviation

The International Training Workshop on Big Earth Data for Disaster Risk Reduction organized at the AIRCAS Campus in Olympic Village S&T Park on Oct. 30, 2018. It was attended by 20 trainees from 17 countries including Czech, Ghana, Iran, Nepal, Armenia, Bangladesh, Cote d'Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
