AIR Organizes International Training Course on “Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology and Applications”

An online training course on “Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology and its Applications” was held on August 3-7, 2020 in Beijing, attracting some 90 participants from the countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, and Turkey.

The event was jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and the CAS Key Laboratory of Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology under the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), aiming to promote joint development of space technology in the Asia-Pacific region.

This training programme focused on quantitative remote sensing information technology and its application cases on precision agriculture, crop pest & disease monitoring and forecasting, measurement and monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, marine ecological and environments, and vector-borne disease. The teachers are top specialists in the field, mainly researchers of CAS.

The training provided reliable cases and the latest theoretical research and methods for the application of quantitative remote sensing information technology in the Asia-Pacific region as well as the Belt and Road countries. In addition, it served as a technology exchange platform to promote China-led innovative space technology.

APSCO gave thanks to Prof. LI Chuanrong, head of the lab, as well as all the teachers and working staff for their contribution to the successful organization of this training course.

As the overall supporting organization of the Secretariat APSCO, the CAS Key Laboratory of Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology provides substantive support to the development of APSCO in terms of project planning, capacity building, project research, application demonstration, and organizing training courses for the Asia-Pacific region.
