China to Launch International Journal on Satellite Navigation

BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) --- China will launch an international English journal called "Satellite Navigation," according to the China Science Daily Thursday.The journal is coordinated by the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Springer Nature. The journal is open to submission and is expected to be published officially in October. The journal will be published in an open-access format and can be obtained free of charge once published.

DBAR Holds Regional Consultation and Networking Workshop in Bangkok

The first DBAR regional consultation and networking workshop for South East Asia was held at the UN’s regional head office in Bangkok, Thailand from February 25-26, 2019. H.E. Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, and H.E. Mr Lyu Jian, Ambassador of China in Thailand attended the ceremony.The workshop focused on identifying capacity of different South East Asian Countries, including their data generation, technological and infrastructural capabilities.

AIR Scientist Attends Sino-Finnish Seminar on Climate Change and Air Quality

A Sino-Finnish seminar on climate change and air quality was held in Beijing on January 14, 2019. The event was attended by Finnish President Sauli Niinisto during his state visit to China, together with LI Ganjie, China's Minister of Ecological Environment.The seminar under the theme “Cooling our Planet”, covered topics including Arctic warming, air pollution and global sustainable development. Prof. GUO Huadong emphasized the value of Big Earth Data in collaborative research towards implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The 3rd Digital Belt and Road Conference Held in Tengchong,China

The Third Digital Belt and Road Conference was organized in Tengchong in southwest China’s Yunnan Province from Dec. 5 to 7, 2018. Under the auspices of the Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR), the conference was jointly organized by the Tengchong Government and CAS Program of Big Earth Data Science Engineering. It was attended by representatives from more than 40 countries (such as China, Russia, UK, France, Italy, Finland, US, Japan, Thailand, Laos, Pakistan, Zambia, Morocco and Kenya) and more than 300 scholars and experts from international organizations and programs (such as UNEP, GEO, CODATA, ISDE, HIST, IRDR and PEEX).

HIST Delegation Visit Pakistan

On November16-25, 2018, the HIST Delegation headed by Prof.WANG Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the Auspices of UNESCO which is hosted by the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited Pakistan and implemented a China-Pakistan joint field investigation in the northern archaeological zone of Pakistan. This activity is supported by the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: Project of “Digital Belt and Road” with the topic of “Conservation and Development of Cultural and Natural Heritage along the Belt and Road”. The goal of this investigation is to enhance the bilateral cooperation of space technologies on archaeology and protection of cultural heritage sites through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
