Remote Sensing Land-use Database Updated

June 20, 2018

BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The latest construction of a remote sensing monitoring database of China's land-use at a 1:100,000 scale has been completed.

Based on the land-use data of 2010, the 2015 national land-use database of China was based on satellite images of Landsat and HJ-1A, according to the website of Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It records the country's land-use condition in 2015, as well as the changes of farmland, forest, grassland, waters, construction land and unused land from 2010 to 2015.

China has built the land use databases at 1:100,000 scale since 1980s.

The remote sensing monitoring database of land-use supports ecological environmental assessments.

The update of the land coverage database to a 1:250,000 scale and the soil erosion database to a 1:100,000 scale is ongoing.
