UN Security Council Affairs Workshop Delegation Visits CBAS

On July 9, 2024, representatives from the Workshop on UN Security Council Affairs visited the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS). The delegation experienced a live demonstration of the SDG Big Data Platform and the operation of SDGSAT-1 Satellite, engaging in discussions with researchers about utilizing Big Earth Data to develop sustainable development solutions at country and regional levels.
Following the demonstration,the representatives attended a reception meeting where CBAS Deputy Director Liu Jie welcomed the representatives and highlighted CBAS’ role as an international institute harnessing the impacts of digital technology and international scientific cooperation to serve the UN 2030 Agenda and Global Development Initiative. She also highlighted CBAS’s commitment to pushing forward cutting-edge research and to providing tailored digital solutions and tools for researchers, policy makers and stakeholders in the world.
On behalf of the delegation, Thomas Lund-Sørensen, Head of Asia Department of Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Gul Qaiser, Counsellor of Pakistan Permanent Mission to the UN, congratulated CBAS on its innovative works and significant achievements. They udnerscored the importance of data sharing among scientific fields to developing forward-thinking solutions, reinforcing CBAS’ s role in driving future-oriented research. The delegation was also briefed on CBAS’ recent activities and engaged in open and candid discussions with meeting participants.
The event is attended by 27 participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Aerospace Information Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS), the International Society for Digital Earth, the Digital Belt and Road Program and CBAS.
