Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization Visits CAS Key Laboratory of Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology

June 12, 2020

On May 18, the Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) LI Xinjun, the Secretariat GAO Ye, PANG Jie, WANG Liang, and General Manager of CAS Hualu Space Science and Technology Co., Ltd., LI Cheng visited the CAS Key Laboratory of Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology. The laboratory director LI Chuanrong, deputy directors TANG Lingli and LI Ziyang received the guests and had in-depth exchanges.

At the exchange meeting, the two parties reviewed the establishment and development of APSCO; Xinjun Li introduced the current operating mode, future planning and 2020 work plan of APSCO; Chuanrong Li started from hyperspectral remote sensing technology and introduced quantitative remote sensing technology in precision agriculture, pest and disease monitoring, carbon satellites, green algae, red tide, watercolor remote sensing, geology, vector-borne diseases, fluorescence, chlorophyll and other application cases and achievements.

In addition, the two sides reached consensus on the upcoming APSCO training course on the topic of "quantitative remote sensing technology and its application", and discussed the details of the lecture experts, trainees, teaching methods, schedules, and other details. The two sides hope to continue to share the experience of remote sensing data processing and application in China with other member countries through this online video training.

As the technical support unit of the APSCO Secretariat, the Key Laboratory of Quantitative Remote Sensing Information Technology has provided substantial support to APSCO for many years. There have been many successful projects, such as APSCO project development planning, APSCO organizational capacity building, APSCO member country remote sensing application demonstration research, China’s environmental constellation in APSCO member countries' applied research, the Asia-Pacific No.1 high-resolution satellite mission demonstration and other subject research tasks. Also, the laboratory has successfully undertaken or participated APSCO's training courses on remote sensing technology and application in the Asia-Pacific region. The lab provides strong support for APSCO’s development through these cooperative work.
