AIR Sponsored Journals Achieve Top Rankings in Latest JCR Report

June 28, 2024

On June 20, 2024,Clarivate Analytics released the latest Journal Citation Reports (JCR), revealing significant achievements for the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. All five English-language academic journals sponsored by AIR have entered the Q1 category in their respective international disciplines, establishing a leading cluster of scientific journals in the global aerospace information field.

Microsystems & Nanoengineering (MINE), with its latest impact factor of 7.3, continues to hold a top position in the "Instruments & Instrumentation" category (3rd out of 76). Additionally, it has entered the Q1 category for the first time in "Nanoscience & Nanotechnology" (32nd out of 140).

International Journal of Digital Earth boasts an impact factor of 3.7, maintaining its Q1 status in "Physical Geography" (13th out of 65) and ranking in the Q2 category for "Remote Sensing" (22nd out of 62).

Big Earth Data has achieved an impact factor of 4.2, placing it in the Q1 category for both "Geosciences, Multidisciplinary" (34th out of 253) and "Computer Science, Information Systems" (57th out of 249).

Satellite Navigation (SANA), with a remarkable impact factor of 9, ranks 2nd in "Aerospace Engineering" (2nd out of 52), 4th in "Remote Sensing" (4th out of 62), and 4th in "Telecommunications" (4th out of 119). Its Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) of 2.11 places it first globally in the aerospace engineering field.

Journal of Remote Sensing (JRS), with an inaugural impact factor of 8.8, is ranked 5th globally in "Remote Sensing" and holds Q1 positions across "Remote Sensing", "Environmental Sciences", "Geosciences", and "Imaging Science & Photographic Technology".

AIR launched its cluster of aerospace information science and technology journals in 2019. This cluster, centered on both Chinese and English scientific journals sponsored by AIR, covers five major fields: electronic science and technology, remote sensing science and technology, aeronautical and astronautical science and technology, information and communication engineering, and earth sciences.

The cluster includes five leading international English journals: International Journal of Digital Earth, Microsystems & Nanoengineering, Big Earth Data, Satellite Navigation, and Journal of Remote Sensing, along with four high-quality Chinese journals: Journal of Electronics & Information Technology, National Remote Sensing Bulletin, Journal of Image and Graphics, and Journal of Radars.

By leveraging these journals, AIR aims to pool high-quality academic resources, build a cross-disciplinary, cross-field, and comprehensive academic exchange platform, and publish China's latest research achievements in major areas such as Earth observation, sustainable development, digital earth, satellite navigation (BDS/GNSS), and the Belt and Road Initiative. This effort supports the collaborative innovation of aerospace information technology and industry and explores pathways for the intensive, large-scale, and high-quality development of scientific journals.
