AIR Launches Journal of Remote Sensing

October 16, 2020

The Journal of Remote Sensing was launched in October to publish high-quality, online-only, and open-access publications to benefit the Earth observation community, according to the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The journal, co-sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science and the State Key Laboratory of Microwave Imaging Technology, is included as a new Science Partner Journal distributed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

The Editorial Board members are composed of internationally renowned scientists, aiming to publish high-quality papers on remote sensing (RS) theory, science, techniques, and applications.

The scope of the journal will focus on the theory, science, and technology of remote sensing, as well as interdisciplinary research with Earth science and information science.

"RS is a fast-growing and emerging interdisciplinary subject. Although RS journals currently exist, there are not enough to cover the thousands of exciting articles each year that document the advancement in RS science and technology", says Prof. WU Yirong, Editor-in-Chief of the journal and Director-General of AIR.

AIR, as the host institute of the journal, is looking forward to providing a state-of-art platform to promote international communication and cooperation in the RS community, and building the journal into a global top-tier journal in publishing RS research results associated with natural resources, agriculture, hazards, environment, and climate change.
