Comprehensive Test Site of SAR Remote Sensing Operational in North China
November 14, 2018
The opening ceremony for the Comprehensive Experimental Site of SAR (synthetic aperture radar) Remote Sensing was held in Zhangjiakou in north China’s Hebei Province on November 10, 2018.
As Asia’s first large-scale basic science experimental facility for far-field microwave remote sensing, the Site was jointly built by the Aerospace Information Research Institute and the Government of Zhangjiakou, a co-host city and venue of 2022 Winter Olympics.
In addition to assisting the local effort in developing a functional zone of water conservation and a supporting zone of ecological and environmental protection for Beijing, the Site will also serve the forthcoming Olympic event assisting in high-precision, real-time and all-round monitoring of the region using space-borne, airborne and ground remote sensing systems.
The test site for SAR experiment is a part of CAS program on big earth data science engineering.
