CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence on Space Technology for Disaster Mitigation

July 17, 2013

To make good use of intelligent resources housed by the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) and promote substantial cooperation among developing countries, five CAS-TWAS centers of excellence were set up in 2013.

The CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Space Disaster Mitigation is hosted by RADI. The Center will focus on the study of fundamental theories and key space technologies for disaster reduction. Based on China’s strengths in space technologies, the center will provide technology transfer for developing countries, provide them with disaster reduction strategies and narrow down the talent gaps in these countries through training to enhance their disaster reduction capability as a whole.
