AIR，University of the Punjab Sign Cooperation Agreement on Remote Sensing and Ecological Monitoring

On June 3-4, the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science (SLRSS) from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Geographical Information System (CGIS), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. This collaboration aims to advance the National Key R&D Program " Integrated remote sensing monitoring of ecosystem over Asia-Oceania hot areas ".
The international exchange conference was chaired by Professor LIU Qinhuo from AIR, also Co-Chairman of the Global Ecosystem and Environment Observation Analysis Research Cooperation (GEOARC), gathered scientists from both institutions. Attendees included Assistant Professor Sawaid Abbas from CGIS, Husi Letu, Director of the Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth at AIR, project leader LI Jing, and project team members.
During the meeting, Sawaid Abbas showcased his research in ecological environment monitoring and conveyed Shahid Ghazi, Director of CGIS’s intentions for cooperation in joint international project applications, data sharing, and talent cultivation. LI Jing emphasized the importance of this international cooperation opportunity. Both parties highlighted plans for joint efforts in project applications, parameter inversion research, joint validation, and application demonstration. These collaborative efforts aim to make significantly contribute to the ecological environment protection and sustainable development of both China and Pakistan.
The cooperation agreement, signed by LI Jing on behalf of SLRSS, and Sawaid Abbas of CGIS, marks a significant step in the deepening collaboration between China and Pakistan in ecosystem protection and remote sensing monitoring.
The partnership is set to enhance the mutual understanding and protection of ecosystems, promoting the goals of ecological environment protection and sustainable development, and contributing to regional and global ecological balance.
