DBAR Opens Center of Excellence in the US

The International Center of Excellence of the Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR) at Columbia (ICoE-Columbia), South Carolina, the US inaugurated on the 14th of November 2018. This is DBAR’s first such center in North America and the sixth one across the world including centers in Bangkok, El Jadida, Lusaka, Moscow and Helsinki.

Hosted at the University of South Carolina, the ICoE-Columbia aims at carrying out cooperative research and capacity-building with the goal of applying big Earth data for sustainable development of coastal zones.

Co-chaired by Prof. WANG Cuizhen and Prof. Susan Curter, the center will promote collaboration in the field with organizations such as Hazards & Vulnerability Research Institute (HVRI) of the University of South Carolina, the NOAA NERRS Centralized Data Management Office (NOAA NERRS CDMO), and the University of Padova in Italy.
